My passion for set design and immersive spaces started at an overnight summer camp in Ontario. Beginning at age 15, I designed and built large-scale themed events for over 1,000 campers and staff-ranging from a Winter Wonderland and a prehistoric jungle to a full-scale Circus and a Marvel vs. DC Color War.
Nothing beats the feeling of watching people walk into a familiar room and stop in their tracks, completely mesmerized. As a staff member, I took these builds to the next level. On a strict $200 budget using recycled materials, I created an interactive Mario Party experience complete with custom narrative lore: Toad gets lost through a mysterious green pipe, and campers must step through the portal to rescue him. It was a high-impact, low-cost transformation that brought the whole camp together.
